Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited is the biggest public sector commercial organisation in India with current market capitalisation of about USD 60 billion. The Indian government holds a 68.94% stake in ONGC.

It's world's no. 3 E&P Company as per prestigious Platts ranking and is 21 among Platts Top 250 global companies. Ranked 21st among global Oil and Gas Operations industry in Forbes Global 2000 list of the World's biggest companies for 2014; ranked 176 in the overall list - based on Sales, Profits, Assets and Market Value .

ONGC has been only Indian energy major in Fortune's Most Admired List (2014) under 'Mining, Crude Oil Production' category.

Ranked 26 among the world's 124 largest listed companies in 'Transparency in Corporate Reporting' by Transparency International making it the most transparent company in India. Ranked 217 in the Newsweek Green Rankings World's Greenest Companies 2014 (up from 386 in 2012).

ONGC, the national oil company of India, is the highest valued and highest profit making Government of India enterprise. In the financial year ended 31st March 2014, ONGC Group had produced 59.21 million tonne of oil and oil equivalent gas (MMTOE)

ONGC Videsh Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) and is India’s largest international oil and gas E&P company. At present, ONGC Videsh has activities in 33 projects spread across 16 countries. ONGC Videsh’s oil and gas operations produced 8.36 MMT of oil and oil equivalent gas in 2013-14 as against 0.252 MMT of O+OEG in 2002-03.
