We at Cookie Crumbles believe that there’s a little cook in every child. Cooking helps the development of fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, it increases vocabulary and reading comprehension skills from following recipes, it helps develop math skills, including addition, fraction and logical thinking, but most importantly kids get a great feeling of accomplishment when creating a recipe that helps confidence and self-esteem.

Fun
“When the fun goes out of play, most often so does the learning”. Our belief is that we learn so much better in a fun and relaxed environment. That’s why we it doesn’t matter in our classes if some flour drops accidentally on the flour or the kids have a play fight over who gets the last scratch of chocolate out of the bowl. We actively encourage the children to be creative, living out their imagination, might it be a foccacia bread, shaped as a snowman or a pizza shaped as a washing machine.

Promoting a healthy lifestyle
It goes without saying that being taught to cook your own food from scratch is the basis of a better understanding of nutrition. The food choices made by young children will affect the way they eat for the rest of their lives. We believe that getting kids involved in all stages of food preparation encourages them to taste and enjoy new and healthy foods. In our classes we also raise awareness of the different cultures and their recipes and ingredients.
