The Drayton Group was formed in 1974 when the first Mercedes-Benz franchise in Market Drayton, Shropshire was obtained by Drayton's parent company, Meteor Group. Today, more than thirty years later, the Drayton Group operates from seven premier locations in the West Midlands, where it was awarded exclusivity for Mercedes-Benz in 2001. The Group has further expanded with the addition of smart franchise at Wolverhampton.

The Drayton Group has enjoyed continued success over the years having won the Mercedes-Benz Retailer of the Year Award on several occasions.
