Filofax is a well-known British brand that produces a range of notebooks, tablet sases and organisers. The company is part of the FLB Group. Letts, Filofax and Blueline Group have two locations in the UK, including a manufacturing facility near Edinburgh. The Filofax, Letts and Blueline Group also consists of owned subsidiaries in the US, Germany, France, Italy & Scandinavia and also houses manufacturing offices in Hong Kong. Over 30 distributors around the world make up Filofax’s international markets.
The name originates from an abbreviation of the phrase "file of facts". This name for the product was first coined when the UK company was founded in 1921. The popularity of the Filofax organiser grew enormously during the early 1980s due to its association with Yuppie Culture, where it was regarded as a "must-have" accessory, in the days before electronic organisers.
