Having a passion for vehicle washing may seem a little strange to some people but for me this is something that has developed over the five years I spent working as WashTec’s Marketing Manager. A fair amount of those five years was spent effectively working with wash sites that needed help to increase their wash revenue and it has given me great pleasure to know that I was a part of their success.

Thirty years ago the automated car wash was still something quite new and as a child I loved it. Most Sundays my dad would get out a bucket and sponge and wash his car by hand but every now and then we would go to the car wash. I would sit in the back seat and almost hold my breath with excitement as I waited to see the brush appear and make its way down the back window. I am happy to say that this is a pleasure that has never gone away!

These days however my excitement is tempered with dismay when I see filthy car wash bays and glass windows so covered in limescale that the theatre of the wash is totally lost. Add in a little bad lighting, poor signage and staff who are pretty much scared to go near the machine and you have a recipe for unreliable equipment and poor wash revenues, and so to help get companies back on track Create the Desire was born.

Any car wash can be an excellent source of revenue for a forecourt or wash centre it just takes a little know how and the good news is that it doesn’t need to cost the earth to make it happen! Lastly I know unregulated hand car washing is unfair and a pain in the pocket and highly damaging to the environment but there is something you can do about it. You can report it to your local council, the environment agency and your local water company but I am aware that many people don’t have the time and in some cases are worried about reprisals from the hand car wash company. Create the Desire now offers a service to assist in the removal of unregulated hand car wash sites, that whilst not guaranteed in many cases is effective.
