I am a Mum of three and started up Bramble Rose in April 2012.

I was made redundant in 2010 and was about 5 months pregnant with my 3rd child at the time. With 2 girls already under the age of 3 I thought I would try to last as long as possible on my redundancy pay to stay at home, as childcare for 3 was going to be very expensive.

In January 2012 I had a mad idea that all the personalised Embroidered items I liked to buy for my own children (now 5, 3 and just turned 2), surely I could make these myself, and make them so lovely that everyone would want them. So, with no previous experience – I’d never so much as threaded a sewing machine, let alone used an Embroidery machine, I set about researching my new ‘plan’.

I slipped a disc in February 2012 which whilst this meant I was in alot of pain, not able to do very much and was completely reliant on help from family to look after me and the children, whilst I was convalescing, it gave me a great opportunity to find out what I needed to know, how to do what I wanted to do AND find good supplier samples. I ruled out lots as they weren’t good enough quality and kept trying until I found the right ones.

In March 2012, with the hiring of a wheelchair due to my back and the help of my ever patient and supportive husband, I attended the Printwear and Promotions show and the NEC and had ‘a go’ on the Embroidery Machine I’d had my eye on. It's also where I found some other Wholesalers, which was fantastic.

At the end of March I’d managed to find a 2nd hand machine and I was off. My website went live at the beginning of April and the response I’ve received has been amazing, so much more than I’d expected and I’ve been very overwhelmed by peoples comments. In today’s current marketplace starting a business is hard, and when people are having to tighten their purse strings I think the responses I’ve received are truly amazing.

I’m hoping to build things up gradually so I can run it full time when the youngest is at school and I am constantly working hard to get new designs and products that I think people will love.

I currently offer, personalised Teddy Bears, Rag dolls, Hoodies, Towels, Bridal Robes, Drawstring Bags (for Swimming, PE, Gym etc) and many more treasured keepsakes.
