Hello and welcome to Sue and Jane’s toy shop, based at Glebe Farm in the lovely village of Astbury.

We have spent many years researching toys for the shop; as children our Mum (yes, we’re sisters) and Aunt, who were infant school head teachers, took us to Galt Toys in Cheadle to buy toys for their schools. We have fond memories of trying out this robust and fun range – Galt’s slot together wooden dolls house was a genius in design.

As children, obviously we played with toys, although Jane once drew a moustache and stubble beard on her favourite baby doll in permanent marker and Sue totally redecorated Jane’s lovely wooden dolls’ house in pale blue gloss paint (why did we do that?)

Since then, as grown ups, Jane has worked for a company specialising in demonstrating and selling toys and educational equipment into pre schools, nurseries, primary schools and after school clubs and Sue has more retail experience than she probably likes to remember.

So, we have now clubbed together our expertise and are really excited with our new joint venture.

We’re both Mums ourselves and know the frustration of finding plasticine trodden into the carpet, crunchy bits of toys shooting up the Hoover and marbles found in inappropriate places – but that’s not stopping us from stocking anything like that (sorry parents), because our kids all had fun in the process. We understnad that some toys are loved, some are cherished, but a few may get trashed along the way.
