I want to share with you my story and background. I wasn’t always a fitness & nutrition coach. For all of my working life until 2014, I was a music teacher & a flute player…passionate about bringing the joy of music to children of all ages (I still am! ). Since college and university days, I struggled with my weight. I put weight on in school, so I began exercising & took some off, but eventually my weight crept back. I joined a gym, got a trainer and did one of their nutrition plans… same story. Lost a bit, but gained it back. I began going to meetings and counting “points.” Took weight off… when some weight came back, I became a “point counting” runner. I thought that the more I ran, the skinnier I would get. Well, I became an ultra-runner, running 50 mile races and 5 hour training runs, all the while counting points and not losing any weight!

I was active! Watching what I ate! Why wasn’t I getting healthier or leaner?

I was just getting more and more depressed about the way I looked. I dreaded having to dress up for fear that I wouldn’t fit into the pants I bought for the last special occasion…and yes, I had to go to the plus size store for those! No way did I want to go back there for a bigger pair!

I felt run down and tired. Bending over to tie my shoes was uncomfortable. I dreaded being invited to go swimming in the summer.

My running days ended when I became ill and needed a hysterectomy. The days recovering I spent thinking about how much fatter and more out of shape I was getting lying around in bed. I realized that it was time to get serious and get healthy! But I also realized that my previous attempts to get fit and healthy had all FAILED.

So I made a decision. Obviously I didn’t have the answers on my own, so I sought out some professional advice. I began working with a coach. I handed over the reigns and took her advice no matter what it was. She guaranteed me that if I trusted the process I would succeed. She was right. Over the next year I transformed my body.

I lost 50 pounds and 41.5 inches…
It took time, and patience, but my coach was there to help guide me. She worked with me to shape the path that was right for me and my body. I learned that it is not about a strict diet and lots of time burning calories “doing cardio.” It is about tiny choices made daily which add up to big changes over time. Simple. But not always easy. My coach held me accountable to actually make these choices on a daily basis until these choices became good habits.

I was deeply inspired by the process of learning about my body’s unique needs and getting back in touch with my basic needs, in regard to nutrition, exercise and life. I became so passionate about what I had learned that I needed to share this process with others who are where I was. If I could make this transformation, anyone can!

I am now a certified Fitness & Nutrition Coach, dedicated to helping women live healthier, more energetic, more balanced lives. My mission is to impact the health of 100 children per year through the women of their families.
