In its two-phase continuum of care model, CFH provides supportive transitional shelter and affordable housing for its families. During both phases, the families work closely with social workers to receive intensive family-focused care and support such as vocational counseling, parenting skills and financial literacy. CFH empowers families to take positive steps in both phases to achieve financial independence and self-reliance. Our Social Worker to family ratio is 1 to 16 (compared to some government programs that may be as high as 1 to 50). By keeping our ratio low, Charlotte Family Housing Social Workers and volunteer Hope Team members, who are matched with families to provide long-term encouragement and support, work far more intensively with each family on their journey to self-sufficiency.

We estimate families will take an average of two to three years to complete all of the structured steps outlined in our program to move to self-sufficiency. Ultimately, this time frame depends on the individual's circumstances and how severe the generational poverty background.
